Head Injury Support was formed by individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABI) and their carers, who recognised a significant gap in ongoing support services for individuals with ABI after initial rehabilitation. This need for continuous assistance became the driving force behind the establishment of the charity, which is dedicated to helping individuals with ABI and their carers build social connections, develop new skills, enhance their emotional and physical well-being, and regain a renewed sense of purpose.
About us
Our Story
Over the last 10 years, we have experienced significant growth and now operate a dedicated ABI community hub, a daytime activity programme, an art workshop, and an expanding social enterprise initiative. Additionally, we have launched outreach groups in Craigavon and Armagh, with plans to extend our support and services to more communities in the near future.
Our Board of Trustees
Our Board of Trustees consists of individuals with a wealth of professional experience and expertise in governance, ensuring that the charity operates with integrity and purpose. The board includes an HR professional, an accountant, educators, business owners and members of the charity who personally care for loved ones with acquired brain injuries (ABI).
This unique blend of skills and personal dedication enriches our leadership, as the trustees bring both professional insight and lived experience to the organisation guiding our efforts to provide effective services and advocacy within the community.
